The constellation of the stars at the time of birth characterises them throughout their lives. CARDINAL SIGN OF THE ZODIAC: CAPRICORN

As masters of self-discipline, Capricorns are able to move mountains and have both feet firmly on the ground. Their unconditional loyalty and reliability means their friends can always count on them. Furthermore, the following properties are attributed to Capricorns:

·         have outstanding concentration and are excellent observers.

DUMORTIERITE AND RED AGATE AS BIRTHSTONES

Blue dumortierite is the birthstone attributed to all Capricorns born in December. The name has its origins with the French explorer, the palaeontologist Dumortier. African natives once considered dumortierite to be petrified water and believed it would lead them to water.

Dumortierite is believed to have the following properties:

·         It promotes relaxation and soothes.

·         It promotes courage, nurtures confidence and helps people take life more easy.

Red agate is believed to symbolise good fortune and protect against evil. Its name probably originates to the place it was first found: the River Achates on Sicily. Even in ancient Egypt, agate was used to craft scarabs, worn by all Egyptians as lucky charms and protective stones. Agate is believed to particularly protect expectant mothers and their children, to support healthy pregnancy and to promote an easy birth. It is also the birthstone for all Capricorns born in January.

Red agate is believed to have the following properties:

·         It reduces psychological inhibitions, the suppressed and blockages.

·         It helps people get on better with words and others.
