What legal rights do I have if a product is faulty?

Statutory rights relating to defects (warranty) apply to defective products. These rights are enforceable against the seller of the item in question.

If you purchased the item from the THOMAS SABO Online Shop or from a THOMAS SABO-owned retail outlet, please contact our Customer Service team or a THOMAS SABO-owned retail outlet. If you purchased the item from an independent retail partner, that seller is generally your point of contact.

As part of the remedy, you may generally choose between the rectification of the defect (repair) and the delivery of goods free from defects (replacement). This right of choice may be restricted in accordance with statutory requirements, in particular in cases of impossibility or disproportionate costs.

Statutory rectification is free of charge for you. The seller shall bear the necessary costs, in particular transport, labour and material costs, in accordance with the statutory provisions.

Before carrying out statutory rectification, we will inform you of your right to choose between repair and replacement. If the defect is rectified by repair, the original limitation period for claims for defects shall be extended once by twelve months in accordance with the statutory provisions.

If the rectification fails, is refused or if the other statutory conditions are met, you may, in particular, be entitled to rescind the contract, claim a reduction in price or claim damages.

Normal wear and tear, loss, theft, improper handling or damage caused subsequently do not, in themselves, give rise to statutory rights in respect of defects. A repair, alteration or engraving carried out by a third party does not automatically invalidate statutory rights in respect of defects; the decisive factor is, in particular, whether the damage claimed was caused by such action.

Please contact us before sending the item in and, if possible, have proof of purchase to hand. The date of purchase and the retailer from whom the item was purchased are crucial for the assessment.

THOMAS SABO does not provide a voluntary manufacturer’s warranty for purchases made on or after 1 August 2026. For older purchases where a voluntary warranty was provided at the time of purchase, the warranty terms in force at that time continue to apply.
