Three jewellery ideas for Mother's Day 2022: Matching gifts for three different kind of mum

We know that every mother is unique. That’s why THOMAS SABO

creates timeless jewellery to suit every personality. Here are three ideas to give her on Mother’s Day this year.

05/04/2022

Let’s start by dispelling a common misconception: Mother’s Day was not invented by florists. Instead, the US origins actually date back to the early American women’s movement. In 1865, in the wake of the American Civil War, Ann Maria Jarvis, a pastor’s wife, organised a “Mothers’ Friendship Day” as a pacifist effort to help prevent future wars.

Her idea grew and evolved, becoming so popular that in 1914, the American Congress officially designated the second Sunday in May as “Mother’s Day”. Other countries followed suit. The tradition was picked up in modern Britain and was soon celebrated throughout Europe.

Jewellery is – and will always be – the best Mother’s Day gift

So, what does this short historical journey tell us? The original wish behind our contemporary Mother’s Day was for a more peaceful world in which people would remember one thing above all else: That, over and above all the things that might seem to divide us at times, we are all united by this one commonality – we were all given life by a mother. This special day of the year is dedicated to them, so that we can show them our love and appreciation.

At THOMAS SABO, we think it’s become more important than ever to show our loved ones how much they mean to us – particularly now. And of course, we believe that jewellery is always the best way to do this. After all, what gift could express your feelings better and last longer than a piece of jewellery? It will accompany the person you care about for many years to come and every time they look at it – no matter where they are or what situation they are in – they’ll be reminded that they are loved and appreciated.

For all these reasons and more, we’ve put together the best Mother’s Day gift ideas for 2022 that will suit every style and personality.

Gift ideas for trend-conscious mums

Pearls have a timeless, classic status. They never lose their appeal, as they make every outfit look extra special. In 2022, pearl jewellery is being reinvented in our “Pearls & Chains” collection. The designs combine shimmering freshwater cultured pearls with eye-catching link chains for an exciting mix of styles and a very contemporary look. These pieces would make the perfect present for mothers who want their jewellery to stand out in a crowd.

Other items in the “Pearls & Chains” collection, that were inspired by star-filled night skies, feature detailed star elements adorned with white zirconia stones that highlight the freshwater cultured pearls. These high-end necklaces, earrings and bracelets are just the thing for any chic occasion.

Gift ideas for minimalist mums

No other symbol expresses affection like the heart. That’s why our “Charming Hearts” collection is entirely dedicated to the most universal sign of love. The symbol appears as a dainty pendant on necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Made of classic 925 Sterling silver or with 750 rose gold plating, these pieces are so timeless that they can be worn and enjoyed every day. And the best part? Some of these items can be engraved and made even more personal, creating a truly unique keepsake. You can also personalise other graphic jewellery designs with an engraving for a one-of-a-kind Mother’s Day gift. Whether you add a heart, a date, or the initials of your favourite person’s name you’ll be giving her something very special this Mother’s Day.

Gift ideas for mothers who love symbols

It’s true that heart-shaped jewellery is the most classic way to express love. However, for mothers who appreciate symbols with a more alternative meaning, you’re bound to find the perfect present in our “Tree of Love” collection. The symbol of a tree firmly rooted in the earth – the focal point of all the pieces in this collection – represents the people who are by our side throughout our lives, and who help us to grow through their love. We can’t imagine a more fitting image for the bond between a mother and her child.
