You can never go wrong with pearls

There’s virtually no other piece of jewellery that’s quite as classic as the pearl necklace. For some of us, it’s that cherished heirloom passed down from our grandmother, for others, it’s the perfect wedding gift. But for most, it’s the absolute IT piece right now. There’s one thing though that’s undisputed: Pearl jewellery is truly versatile and goes with everything.

A symbol of perfection

From cultured freshwater pearls to natural pearls, the mother-of-pearl is multifaceted in its beauty. The differences between pearls lie in the way they’re formed and their origin. The well-known freshwater pearls come from lakes and rivers. They’re available with or without a core, which is inserted into them to form the dazzling mother-of-pearl. The most precious and valuable pearls are South Sea pearls, which range in colour from silver to black and gold.

Timeless contrasts – Pearls & Chains

The Pearls & Chains collection by THOMAS SABO gives pearl jewellery a modern twist thanks to its combination of elegant pearls, 925 sterling silver and sparkling stones. Discover the unrivalled lustre of hand-selected cultured freshwater pearls in the form of a classic choker or pearl earrings. This pearl bracelet with chain elements made of tarnished 925 sterling silver is a wonderful contrast to the classic look, while, at the same time, linking both timeless and modern details in a very exciting way.

Mix and match pearls for a more modern look

Pearl jewellery has just been given a fresh, new update with endless styling possibilities. Pearls are a particular favourite when it comes to chain layering. Layering a pearl choker with longer chains and pendants in the colours gold and silver enhances the look. Men, too, are opting more and more for pearl jewellery in the form of bracelets and necklaces, for example. Pearls give both men and women an excellent opportunity to upgrade their basic summer looks and add a touch of glamour. An especially trendy look right now is wearing classic pearls together with colourful beads. This pretty style is perfect for the stacked and layered bracelet look, giving pearls a more casual feel for everyday wear.

Made to last an eternity – How to care for and clean your pearls

As we’ve mentioned before, the pearl necklace is for many a valuable heirloom that’s passed down from generation to generation. To ensure that it still maintains its beauty and lustre for years and decades more to come, we recommend giving them the care and attention they deserve.

Make sure that you keep them stored separately from your other jewellery as metal and gemstones can cause scratches. Since they are a natural product, sweat and water can also damage your precious pearls with time, leaving them looking dull. So be sure to remove your pearl jewellery before participating in any type of sport or exercise, showering or bathing. To ensure that they maintain their lustre, you can clean the pearls with a soft cloth.
