How do I avoid signs of wear on polished silver/gold surfaces?

Signs of wear on polished silver/gold surfaces

  • Normal signs of wear: Traces of wear (e.g. scratches) are more visible on jewellery with larger polished silver or gold surfaces. These are not material defects, but normal signs of wear caused by wearing.
  • Protection against wear and tear: Although THOMAS SABO jewellery is 100% waterproof, care products or chemical substances such as soap or chlorine can damage the jewellery in the long term. It is therefore advisable to remove jewellery before bathing or showering. Taking it off before going to bed and during physical activity also helps to minimise traces of wear. Perfume and hairspray should be applied before putting on jewellery to preserve its shine.

Care & reconditioning

  • Re-polish: A silver or gold polishing cloth can be used to refresh the shine and remove light scratches.
  • Professional refurbishment: We offer a chargeable service for a more thorough refurbishment. Engravings may become weaker as the process wears away silver.

Signs of wear are normal and do not affect the quality of the jewellery. With regular care, THOMAS SABO jewellery will remain beautiful.
